Modest Fall Trends You Can Shop for in Your Own Closet

As the leaves turn from green to orange and the weather starts to cool down, jk, that doesn’t happen in Texas. Anyway, it's time to start thinking about our fall and winter wardrobes. Trends in fashion for Fall and Winter include long black coats, crisp white button-downs, blanket scarves, large waist-defining belts, and glistening, shimmering metallics. However, you don't need to go out and buy these items brand new. You can easily shop for these trends in your own closet and save some money in the process. It doesn’t hurt that they’re modest and easy to incorporate into your current styles.

Long Black Coats

This fall, a long black coat is a must-have item. If you don't already own one, you can still achieve this trend by layering a black blazer over a longer black cardigan or sweater. Pair it with black leggings and knee-high boots for a chic and sophisticated look. Maybe you have a black jacket or trench coat instead.

White Button Downs

A classic white button down is a timeless piece that every woman should have in her closet. This fall, it's all about adding some edge to this classic look. Pair your white button down with jeans, an oversized blazer, and ankle boots for a stylish and modern twist on a classic.

Blanket Scarves

Blanket scarves are back and bigger than ever. If you don't already own one, you can easily create the same look with a large wool scarf.

Simply drape it around your neck and let it hang down to your knees. Pair it with a sweater dress and knee-high boots for a cozy and stylish look.

Large Waist-Defining Belts

This fall, it's all about defining your waist. If you don't already own a large waist defining belt, you can still achieve this look by cinching your favorite sweater or dress with a regular belt. Pair it with straight leg pants for a chic look.

Metallics

Glistening, shimmering, and shining metallics are a big trend this fall. If you don't want to go all out with a full metallic outfit, you can easily incorporate this trend into your wardrobe with a metallic clutch, shoes, or jewelry. Pair it with a floral dress (yes, for winter) and heels for a glam and sophisticated look.

Don’t have a white button-down, what about a simple white shirt or dress? Don’t have a glittery jacket, try layering solid colors with shiny fabrics, or add shimmery earrings or metallic shoes for a similar vibe. Dig deep into your closet, or your grandparents’, to find a big scarf you can layer over your coat.

You don't need to spend a lot of money to look good this season. You can easily shop for these trends in your own closet and save some money in the process. Remember, fashion is all about experimenting and having fun. Don't be afraid to layer, mix, and match items in your wardrobe to create something new. Have fun with it!
